PRADA Flagship Store, Tokyo
PRADA Flagship Store, Tokyo Architects: Herzog & de Meuron
Star architects and Pritzker prize winners – Herzog & de Meuron – achieve an unprecedented level of technology with the new building for fashion icon PRADA in Tokyo.
The architectural challenge of spherically curved, frameless glazing was unachievable worldwide. Following negotiations with the owner and architects at Eckelt, the glass units were modeled using computer software and a number of prototypes constructed allowing verification of the complex geometrical forms. The architects and façade company carried out many calculations and tests with Eckelt – lasting over a year – and eventually arrived at a successful outcome. The finished building speaks for itself.
Swiss Re Headquarters, London Architect: Sir Norman Foster
Products: SGG Stadip with Seralit Litex – screen-printed yellow laminated glass fixed using the Litewall Mono system.
General Motors Headquarters, Detroit Design: Danny Lane
The largest glass sculpture in the world was erected in Detroit, Michigan, using glass from Eckelt. Two enormous glass walls of dimension 16 x 7.5 meters are the imposing view in the entrance of the GM Renaissance Center - the Headquarters of General Motors.
In order to increase the attractiveness of the apartments in this “city landscape”, additional attractions are needed – here small “Wintergardens” have been set in front of the façade. This area of glass offered the possibility to project an image of the artist Herwig Kempinger, which has been achieved by Eckelt using SERALIT LITEX.
