XLS F FIREBREAK and XLS F REVOLUX screens are necessary when too high greenhouse temperatures exist and maximum ventilation is desired. Hot air easily flows through the screen between the reflective aluminium strips. Closing the screen at night will elevate leaf temperatures by reflection radiation back toward the plants, inhibiting undesirable leaf condensation.

Solar reflection, firebreak performance.

XLS F FIREBREAK screens consist of 4 mm aluminium strips with open spaces in between, everything held together with a strong polyester filament yarn. Special aluminium and polyester gives XLS F FIREBREAK its superior reflection and transmission efficiency. The open spaces allow for sufficient airflow, resulting in a considerable reduction of the air temperature. Even with high outside temperatures, the screen ensures an optimal growing and working climate.

XLS F FIREBREAK screens have a flexible structure. In an open position, they easily fold into a very small bundle, allowing for maximum light transmission.

Due to the open structure, XLS F FIREBREAK offers only limited energy savings. Closing the screen at night, however, will lead to considerable decreases in radiation loss from the crops; plant temperature will stay higher. The risk of condensation on the crop is therefore minimal, thus the risk of any fungus diseases as well.

Often an XLS F FIREBREAK screen is combined with a second, closed screen such as SLS 10 ULTRA PLUS, XLS 10 ULTRA FIREBREAK or XLS 10 REVOLUX. This combines both maximum potential cooling in the summer with maximum potential heat retention and energy savings during the winter. During the winter both screens are closed for maximum heat retention.

As XLS F FIREBREAK is a highly UV-stabilized product with excellent antistatic properties the screen will stay clean and efficient for many years. The applied UV-stabilizers are resistant to common chemicals used in greenhouses.

XLS F FIREBREAK is an inside screen for all types of greenhouses and greenhouse covering materials. In order to achieve the intended firebreak properties, XLS F FIREBREAK should be used in flat sliding systems installed with a fire resistant support wire at 3.20 m or less between them.

XLS F REVOLUX screens are meant for situations where fire security is of great importance, for example in public areas. Different from most other screens used in the horticulture industry, these screens are manufactured from 100% flame retardant materials. Test reports by institutions from various countries concerning the fire retardant properties are available.
