Finnish designer Timo Sarpaneva (1926) in 1983 started the 'Claritas' series, his largest and most ambitious project in glass, which eventually lead to 66 unique variations on the theme of the monumental polished vessel with internal decoration, each piece showing the aesthetic possibilities of the complicated steam-blow technique.
Steam-blown, formed and polished thick colourless glass with a hollow core surrounded by a cluster of small 'silver blister' air bubbles.
