In 1953, Ms. Palinella Cozzi of Como, Italy approached Ico and Louisa Parisi to design furniture for her apartment. Ms. Cozzi was shown furniture that had recently been designed by the Parisis for another client, and she insisted a similar design be implemented for her bedroom. Ico Parisi altered the design of the headboard and the nightstands slightly so that each client would have a uniquely commissioned bedroom suite. The first example of this bedroom suite is pictured in Esempi and shows a slightly different composition to the headboard. A finely crafted and rare design by the seminal Italian designer. Literature: Esempi #2, second series, fig. 213 illustrates the original version in situ.
Provenance: Palinella Cozzi, Como, Italy; Marc Heiremann, Brussels; Private Collection, New York.
