Produced in very limited series in 1990 at Arad's infamous Chalk Farm Road studio in Camden Town, London, this chair was included in Arad’s solo exhibition at Art et Industrie gallery in New York that same year. This example features sides in mirror-finish stainless steel, which camouflages the chair by reflecting the surrounding room. The Rolling Volume is weighted as well which gives it surprising balance when in use, but lifts the chair to an expressionistic angle once the sitter has left. Arad’s furniture is as functional as it is sculptural, and very rare.
