“The basic idea was to make an extremely light, small, easily positioned easy chair that offers high comfort despite its size. There should also be a table. Circular felt a bit dull but it’s obviously still good. I wanted to move away from it but still have the round feel, so I made the SPORT series hexagonal. Round, but not,” Eero Koivisto explains.
“I’m virtually obsessed with things that go together. Like organic systems. I took the hexagon idea from the honeycomb cells in a beehive, and it makes it simple to join the easy chair and the table at the edges to create small meeting places and seating groups. It’s a way of producing intimacy even in large rooms,” Koivisto continues.
“The stitching solution was based on the aesthetics of sportswear and training shoes, an area I find a great source of inspiration. There are all kinds of seams, patches and parts that join to form a functional, aesthetic whole,” Eero Koivisto concludes.
SPORT is ideal for both home and public environments.
