Harry Bertoia created the Asymmetric chaise, a masterpiece of mid-century experimental American furniture, during the same period and in the same style as his celebrated 1952 Diamond, Bird and side chairs and bar stool. Knoll exhibited two prototypes of the Chaise with the launch of the Bertoia collection in New York in 1953, but never manufactured the Chaise en masse because of the prohibitive production costs involved in a design of such complexity. The Asymmetric chaise is now available.
