Misfits is a collection of modular seating composed of various units with an almost sculptural appearance. Their forms are moulded in an interplay of volumes, of solids and voids, of flowing lines and sinuous curves which create a wavy effect and provide maximum comfort.
Made of self-supporting polyurethane foam, Misfits comprises five large units – three with a backrest and two pouffes – which can be combined in an endless variety of arrangements or placed independently.
Ron Arad has designed bold shapes with graceful, embracing lines and irregular gaps, a perfect balance of solids and voids. This seating is a work of art that is also supremely comfortable and functional. The design seems very simple but it involves an extremely complex production process. Extraordinary tailoring skills are required to ensure the fabric stays taut against the units' curving, irregular lines.
Misfits embodies one of the fundamental characteristics of Moroso products, i.e. the ability to combine industrial production techniques with those of craft production, the latter being essential in the creation of Misfits' fabric upholstery.
Structure
Steel frame covered with injected flame-retardant polyurethane foam. Standard feet, screwed to the frame, are in black polypropylen.
