The Alma upholstered chair is the result of the first collaboration between Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten and a young Austrian design duo by the name of Polka.
Marie Rahm and Monica Singer founded the Polka label in 2004, and have since worked on product (including furniture) and visual design projects.
This pleasing, understated chair with its restrained, feminine lines dovetails perfectly with the Wittmann design philosophy. An eyecatching feature is the low backrest which creates an unexpected impression when arranged around a table in a group. It is not the chairs but the people seated on them who become the centre of attention. Resting on simple, straight-edged legs, this is a modern chair with subtle echoes of the Viennese furniture making in the early 20th century.
Alma comes with or without armrests, and with solid walnut legs on request. both fixed and removable covers are available.

Wittmann Möbelwerkstätten commissioned Polka to design a dining table to match the Alma upholstered dining chairs. The light tabletop floats like a wing above the simple, straight legs. The elegant lines take their inspiration from the chairs, and the table, too, combines fine craftsmanship and durability. The unpretentious style is completely in tune with the formal language of the chairs, and harmonises with them to create a modern yet timeless ensemble.
