he Container Program 980 was developed in 1998 by Dieter Rams and Thomas Merkel as a supplement to the Table Program 850 and in 2004 to expand the Container Program 981.
The Container Program 980 encompasses stand container with various compartments for workplace organisation and a modular sideboard system with cover panels. The sideboard can be made up of containers, put together individually as desired. Distinctive design element of the containers are the superior doors, fronts and rear panels made of Alucobond, a laminate, which is coated on both sides with aluminium.
In Container Program 981 the containers are worked to mitre so that a cover panel is no longer necessary. The sideboard is thereby lent further potential functions and hence can also be combined quite well with other furniture in the residential sector.
