bulthaup is synonymous with innovation, which is why it regularly offers up tremendous leaps in development. With the arrival of bulthaup b3, a new product generation has been launched onto the market. These new products set new standards in the integration of contemporary kitchen technology. It is now possible not just to plan a kitchen based on the floor plan, but more importantly to bring the walls to life. This idea goes so far as to make the kitchen appear to float, lending its spatial effect a sculptural quality. The weightless appearance of bulthaup b3 is characterized by the lightness and clarity of its construction and the thickness of its materials. The materials are as thin as possible and as strong as necessary - 10 - 13 mm. The supporting idea, in the truest sense of the word, is the functional wall. This is a wall that is placed in front of the actual wall, is made of steel carriers, can carry up to 1 tonne per meter and can be fitted with kitchen elements, built-in appliances, sideboards and panels made from all kind of materials. The panels run horizontally, are up to 4 meters in length and have a room-expanding, stylish effect.

The manifold talents of this functional wall are not just evident in the kitchen, however. One idea is to use it both as an esthetic, functional framework in the living room, extend it into the entire house and adorn it with lots of beautiful yet practical things. Many objects can be suspended in the ultra-supportive gaps between the panels. Elegant, floating sideboards, heavy, large TV flatscreens, pictures, lamps and so on. The possibilities of the 'playable' functional wall are endless. There's scarcely a single piece of furniture that cannot be imagined matching the wall perfectly - from coat racks to loudspeakers, from shelf elements to cupboard units. For interior architects and designers, the possibilities for creating new room designs and harnessing the flexibility and esthetics of the functional wall are endless. Because the furniture no longer needs to rest on the floor, the bottom edge of the room now also becomes visible. This is an effect that makes the room wide and highlights its quality.

The functional wall has another trick up its sleeve, though. All the cables, be they carrying electricity or data, can be fed discreetly behind the stylish panels to any given point. Consequently, none of the walls need to be prized open and the unsightly cable guides along the floor can be done away with. For the panels, a wealth of materials are available that can be chosen according to the room's desired character. There are surfaces made from wood veneer (maple, cherry, bamboo, oak or Swiss pear), glass, aluminum, laminate and matt and high-gloss varnishes. To ensure that the horizontally-running veneers present a perfect, uniform appearance, they are manufactured individually by experienced veneer craftsmen.

The bulthaup b3 design is characterized by timelessness, functionality and a long service life. It therefore offers the perfect basis for a calm, relaxed atmosphere. With bulthaup b3, the rooms radiate uniformity without feeling restrictive. It creates a room-expanding, horizontal look and is consistent right down to the last detail.

bulthaup b3 designs living spaces

The kitchen is a living space where people not only prepare, cook and eat food, but it's also a place where people enjoy sitting. bulthaup responds to this need for sociability or relaxation with newly-developed tables and benches that fit perfectly into the bulthaup b3 picture.

The filigree, veneered bench comes in both a wall-hanging and floor-standing version. Both models highlight bulthaup b3's lightness and horizontal alignment, especially since the cross-section of the materials used measures no more than 16 mm, yet can still withstand heavy loads. The benches, together with the new tables, complete the kitchen as a living space.

The new tables are offered in two effectively different designs.
The wooden table, like the benches, is also available in oak, maple and cherry veneer. Its filigree cross-sections are identical to those of the benches.

The second bulthaup b3 table version also features these minimalist cross-sections and cleverly combines them with a material thickness of 90 mm. This combination lends the table a lightweight and yet sculptural character. This table is supplied with laminate surfaces in different sizes.

To match the new benches and tables, bulthaup offers a selection of chairs by Carl Hansen. These perfectly-coordinated chairs, designed by Hans J. Wegner, feature exceptional craftsmanship and a flawless, timeless design. The sleek yet expressive chairs are available in a number of different types of wood.
