Lighting competence at every step and turn
Excellent architecture and lighting design require utmost quality and flexibility. With PASO II recessed floor luminaires, Zumtobel Staff has set new standards, in particular when it comes to efficiency, variable lighting technology and creative freedom.
In terms of design, PASO II is geared towards the geometry of a building. The luminaire itself – not just the diffuser – is either round or square. Its unobtrusive design blends perfectly into any architectural environment, allowing precise adjustment to a variety of needs by a selection of different models with diameters or side lengths of 120 mm, 190 mm and 260 mm. Moreover, they have a load capacity of up to 1,000 kg. The smallest of the three models can optionally be stripped down even further. By deliberately dispensing with a solid special-steel frame, the luminaire can blend discreetly into the environment and also be combined with brass and gold. Four torque screws secure the luminaire glass firmly so that it is burglar-proof.
Building without barriers
The design of the luminaire system, completely flush with the floor, ensures that the lighting solution is fit for areas used by disabled persons, both outdoors and indoors. This helps to prevent accidents and eliminate obstacles, particularly in highly frequented circulation areas. In case of flooring materials that can not be cut precisely to match the shape of the luminaire, such as tiles or carpets, a slightly overlapping cover frame hides problem areas directly around the luminaire, without exposed screw heads. Reliable protection from ingressing water is provided by an innovative sealing system (patent pending). To protect human skin or other materials from burning, while at the same time integrating high-quality lighting technology, special infrared blocking filters can reduce the surface temperature, if required.
Safe and quick installation
PASO II can be installed quickly and safely in solid floors using a special casting surround kit. A cover prevents the ingress of concrete on site. By means of a special installation kit, the luminaires can alternatively also be installed in raised floors or even as IP 65 downlights in the ceiling. During development of the luminaire, the creation of an extremely flat model was an essential criterion. Hence, the L model of PASO II was implemented with a height of only 100 mm. This low-profile luminaire model is installed exclusively in screed and insulation layers, without any intervention in the statics of ceiling structures. This allows the luminaire to be positioned optimally in terms of technical lighting features.
Furthermore, a comprehensive range of accessories ensures flexibility. In addition to a variety of lamps – from LEDs to discharge lamps – even honeycomb meshes may be used for effective glare limitation. They may also be combined with appropriate colour filters. Easy handling and a minimum of installation effort allow uncomplicated retrofitting of accessories. The luminaires do not even have to be removed for that purpose. This also applies to relamping.
