This seemingly light and self-contained bench is made of a series of perforated steel seats without backrests, and is a schematic and fragmented representation of waves.
In the Praga bench (previously Onda) each fragment is the eye of a wave and a single backless seat: The metal sheet -like waves- distributes the number of seats on the bench. The square seats and their rounded edges show rectangular symmetrical perforations contributing to giving the bench its light aspect, and, at the same time, to foster material-saving. The side seats bend vertically towards the ground to form the legs.
They bend again horizontally on the ground, giving the ensemble its good stability. A structural tube strengthens the frame - without blurring its clear form-, adding support and unity to the series of seats. This is a highly resistant bench, designed for outdoor or indoor urban sites.
David Karásek makes full use of the simple galvanized steel material and grants it an aspect that reminds us of the work of the Finnish artist Alvar Aalto. David Karásek is a contemporary urban furniture designer. His urban pieces are quality guaranteed, yet aesthetic and functional. They are designed to blend in with public spaces in a serene way, neither too dull nor too obvious.
Seats made of bent die-cast steel plate with antirust protection and powder painted. Steel structure with antirust protection and powdered paint. The bench is delivered assembled. Instructions come with it. The bench fixes into the ground with two stainless steel screws per leg.
No maintenance required.
