We made dynamic sitting popular throughout the world. Over 20 years ago two young designers at Wilkhahn recognized that sitting still was not healthy: children do not sit still on a chair by nature - they have to be trained to do so. The two designers wanted to give adults back some of their natural mobility and creative restlessness. After all, this does not only get your mind moving but it is also the only way of preventing sitting-related diseases. Following intensive studies and test series they developed a chair which revolutionized the entire office furniture industry. Since then we have produced 40 variations of this chair, as a cantilever model, a swivel chair and an executive’s chair. A total of more than two million have been sold worldwide; The FS-Line has been virtually inundated with awards and has often been imitated - after a fashion. The principle is quite simple: the highly flexible seat shell adjusts automatically to any seating position of the user, without any levers and knobs. The technical term for this is: “automatic synchro-adjustment”. We just call it “Sitting without a driver’s licence”.
